Sunday 9th October 2011

Today was spent trying to familiarise ourselves with the city of Addis. However, after walking along the side of the road for a couple of hours, the smog starts to get to you and the sinuses start to throb. The pavements are sparse and deep holes, presumably there for drainage, present potential death traps.
By midday, a St Georges beer at the local bar (above) was much needed.

  3. Hmmm, we went 'shopping' today to take some essentials with us to Gimbie but managed to go round the shops in about 10 minutes and even then only come out with 6 items; some matches, dried milk, a packet of biscuits, a carton of juice, a packet of pasta and a tin of sweetcorn. There's simply very little to select. So, yes, it'll be beans, beans and more beans xxx

  4. We managed to find an even better bar today; they brought along your own 'tube' of beer and you poured it from the table. Now that was a lot of fun and really quite out of character for things here. It was, however, in the posher part of Addis xxx
